Saudi-owned port operator Red Sea Gateway Terminal has expressed interest in managing the Matarbari Deep Seaport, aiming to transform it into a significant regional hub.
On Friday, January 24, during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the company’s executive chairman, Amer A. Alireza, met with Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. During the discussion, Alireza expressed the company’s eagerness to contribute to developing the seaport.
“We aim to assist in turning Matarbari into one of the largest ports in the region,” said Amer A. Alireza.
Professor Yunus encouraged the company to invest further in Bangladesh and support efforts to attract more foreign investments.
The Chief Advisor emphasized Bangladesh’s vision of developing additional ports along the Bay of Bengal to transform Chattogram into a key regional export and shipping hub.
This collaboration could enhance regional connectivity and economic growth, further cementing Bangladesh’s role as a critical player in South Asian maritime trade.
