The picturesque view of the Fari Canal, branching from the Bakkhali River and seen from the Haitupi area of Fatekharkul Union in Ramu, captivates tourists with its serene charm.

Surrounded by lush greenery and vast stretches of farmland, the calm canal, dotted with a few anchored boats, presents a scene reminiscent of a living canvas. The tranquil rural setting offers a refreshing contrast to the bustle of nearby urban areas.

Locals say the Bakkhali River reveals different forms across the seasons — swelling during the monsoon with renewed strength and flowing gently under clear winter skies. In both seasons, nature displays a distinct splendour. The setting becomes particularly enchanting at sunset, when crimson hues reflect off the water, casting a warm glow over both the river and the canal.

Ramu is already known for its historic Buddhist temples and expansive rubber plantations. However, members of the local community believe that with proper planning — including conservation of the canal banks in Haitupi, development of visitor-friendly infrastructure, and aesthetic improvements — the site could emerge as a new attraction on Ramu’s tourism map.

They emphasised that sustainable development, while preserving the natural environment, would not only enhance the area’s appeal as a scenic destination but also contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
