Cox’s Bazar is reeling under an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 35°C and humidity dropping to an uncomfortable low. As the blazing sun beats down on the beach town, local and foreign tourists flock to the sea for relief, especially at the popular Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni beach points.
Saline waves offer a much-needed escape, so beachgoers dive into the water to cool off. Authorities have declared certain zones safe for swimming, backed by active security measures across the three main beach points.
According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, Thursday recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3°C with relative humidity at just 56%. Assistant meteorologist Abdul Hannan warned that the heat may persist for several days.
Doctors have advised the public to avoid going outdoors unless necessary, stay hydrated, and use umbrellas or other protection when under the sun.
In response, administrative bodies, volunteer groups, and lifeguards are working together to ensure the safety of beach visitors. Experts stress the importance of following health precautions during this extreme weather.
