Fishermen’s nets are catching large quantities of a sea fish known as ‘Uluya’ in the coastal areas of Cox’s Bazar. Due to the abundance of the catch, market prices have dropped significantly, thereby increasing consumer demand.

Fresh Uluya fish is being sold on sidewalks along Panbazar Road in the city every evening. Local residents and passersby can purchase the fish at affordable prices without difficulty.

A vendor named Jasim said that the current high supply of Uluya in the sea has allowed them to sell it at Tk 120 per kilogram.

Buyers expressed satisfaction with being able to purchase fresh, tasty seafood at low prices. Many are regularly buying Uluya as an alternative dish for their families.

Local fishermen said that favorable seasonal conditions have increased the availability of fish in the sea, boosting their income and bringing relief to consumers.
