Holiday crowds have boosted sales for local artisan Nuri Begum, who runs a beachside stall selling ornaments made from seashells, stones and other natural coastal materials at Kolatoli Sea Beach. She said sales over the past two days were nearly double the usual level due to the large influx of tourists. Nuri Begum designs the ornaments herself, while her two sons help sell them to tourists. She said the holiday rush has enabled the family to earn several thousand taka a day, highlighting how tourism supports the livelihoods of many coastal families.
