Shahrukh Karim envisions a Bangladesh where climate justice and youth empowerment work together to create a sustainable, fair, and inclusive future.
The challenges faced by marginalized communities along the coastal areas of Cox’s Bazar inspired him to become a dedicated climate activist. Shahrukh has since worked tirelessly to amplify the voices of those most affected.
He is the founder of Youth Action for Justice and Development (JYDA) and the Society for Action and Development (SADA) vice president.
His visionary leadership has brought him recognition as a finalist in the Leaders’ Summit & Hero Award 2022, a feature in ActionAid, and the Best Team Leader award from JYDA, solidifying his role as a leader in climate advocacy.
His work embodies a commitment to ethics, collaboration, and long-term impact.
Shahrukh dreams of a future where Bangladesh stands as a model of climate resilience, with empowered youth leading the path toward sustainable development.
“We are the generation that must fight for our future,” he added, saying that the coastal regions of Bangladesh face some of the most significant risks from climate change.
Youth leadership is essential to addressing these critical issues, he added.
His efforts have equipped over 2,000 students, youth, volunteers, and community members with crucial climate knowledge and resilience skills.
