At the southern end of Moheshkhali—Bangladesh’s only island upazila— lies Shaplapur Union, a place that appears almost like a living canvas painted by nature. On one side stand rows of lush green hills, while on the other, the calm waters of the Kohelia River flow gently by. The meeting of these two landscapes has made Shaplapur a striking example of natural beauty.
People from far and wide visit Shaplapur to experience its scenic charm. A paved road runs along the foothills, breathing new life into the area. Travelling along this road, visitors encounter sweeping views of emerald paddy fields on one side and neatly arranged betel-leaf gardens on the other. The blend of hills, river, farmland, and rural life creates a unique sense of serenity for travellers.
Local resident Md Sharif said, “The natural beauty of Shaplapur is truly extraordinary. Having hills on one side and a river on the other is a rare sight. Anyone who visits even once becomes captivated by its charm.”
Another resident, Mohammad Alam, noted that the landscape gives the area a distinct character. “The road that runs through the hills and the surrounding green fields has given Shaplapur a special beauty. With proper promotion, this place could become an attractive tourist destination,” he said.
With its tranquil river, rolling hills, and simple rural lifestyle, Shaplapur stands out as a remarkable natural setting — a place where the harmony of landscape and village life offers visitors a refreshing escape.
