Star Cineplex is offering a special deal to mark its 22nd anniversary: customers can get a free ticket when they buy one ticket for any movie on October 8.
The offer will be available for tickets purchased directly from the counters at any Star Cineplex branch and will apply to any movie show. The offer will be valid for one day only, according to the authorities.
Moviegoers will also have a chance to win a free movie voucher by sharing their favourite memory of watching a film at Star Cineplex. To participate, customers need to visit the Star Cineplex Facebook page and follow the instructions provided there.
Star Cineplex, the country’s first multiplex cinema chain, began its journey on October 8, 2004, ushering in a new era for moviegoers in Bangladesh.
With spacious halls, modern interiors, and advanced sound and projection technologies, the multiplex introduced a new cinema-going experience to the country. It also helped revive the culture of families going to cinemas together.
Star Cineplex has also enabled Bangladeshi audiences to watch Hollywood films on their international release dates. At times, long queues form for tickets, while tickets for highly anticipated films sell out online days before release.
Reflecting on the journey, Star Cineplex spokesperson Mesbah Uddin Ahmed thanked the audience.
“Reaching this milestone is certainly a matter of joy. Many new things have been introduced over time, and their success ultimately depends on how well people accept them. The main strength behind Star Cineplex’s journey has been the love of our audiences,” he said.
“The journey has been meaningful because the audience has stayed with us. We are deeply grateful to them. Audiences are always eager for good films. We do not want to depend only on foreign films; we want quality Bangladeshi films to be produced regularly so that cinemas remain crowded with audiences watching local films,” Mesbah added.
Star Cineplex currently has branches at Bashundhara City Shopping Mall, Shimanto Shambhar in Dhanmondi, SKS Tower in Mohakhali, Military Museum, Sony Square in Mirpur, Centrepoint in Uttara and Shimanto Tower in Narayanganj, as well as Bali Arcade and Finlay Square in Chattogram.
The company is also working to open branches in Bogura and Rajshahi this year and plans to expand to more locations across Dhaka, according to the authorities.
