Despite the ongoing monsoon season, bright sunshine throughout Friday drew thousands of visitors to Cox’s Bazar, with the country’s longest natural sea beach bustling with holidaymakers enjoying the favourable weather.
From early morning, crowds gathered at Laboni, Sugandha, Kolatoli, Seagull Point and Darianagar Beach. The number of visitors continued to grow throughout the day as families and tourists took advantage of the weekly holiday.
Many visitors were seen bathing in the sea, while others enjoyed horse rides, strolled along the shoreline or spent time taking photographs against the backdrop of the sunlit beach.
Sohan, a tourist from Dhaka, said he had not expected such pleasant weather during the monsoon.
“We didn’t expect to enjoy such bright sunshine at this time of year. My family and I are having a wonderful time at the beach,” he said.
Local business owners said the increase in tourists had boosted business for hotels, restaurants, beach chair and umbrella rental services, photographers, and other tourism-related enterprises.
Lifeguards remained on alert at different points along the beach to ensure visitors’ safety and continued to advise tourists to bathe only within designated safe areas.
