Every day from 7 AM to sunset, Rafi, like other lifeguards, sits quietly beneath his red umbrella at Cox’s Bazar’s Kolatoli Beach. While thousands of visitors come and go—laughing, playing, making memories—his job remains to watch, protect, and stay alert.

One bustling afternoon, amidst the crowd’s usual cheer, Rafi noticed a young boy being pulled into the depths by the waves. Without hesitation, he sprinted toward the water and dove into the surging sea. Onlookers held their breath. They later saw Rafi returning, carrying the child safely in his arms.

His eyes were not filled with pride but with calm humility. “Please be careful, everyone,” he said softly, his eyes lowered.

Since that day, beachgoers have recognized him as a lifeguard and the quiet guardian behind every carefree moment by the shore. He is often unnoticed but always watching.
