As night falls over Goongachhtola in Cox’s Bazar, a sweet aroma begins to float through the crisp winter air. At a modest roadside stall, Mahfuz Alam, a pitha vendor, lovingly prepared freshly steamed cake or bhapa pitha.
In the chilly nights, this warm delicacy becomes a heartfelt invitation to experience a slice of traditional comfort.
Made with jaggery and rice flour, the bhapa pitha slowly cooks to perfection, releasing a rich, inviting fragrance that engulfs the area.
“I enjoy selling these pithas on winter nights. People seem to love them, especially in this cold weather,” says Mahfuz Alam, smiling as he pours batter into the steaming molds.
