A total of 50 volunteers will be deployed at the Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach to assist tourists during the upcoming Eid holidays, in line with directives from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The volunteers were formally assigned their duties through an orientation programme aimed at ensuring tourists safety and overall service during the extended Eid break.

The programme was organised on Wednesday afternoon at the Sagarika Restaurant ballroom of Tourism Motel Shaibal under the initiative of the Bangladesh Tourism Board and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The chief guest at the event was the Bangladesh Tourism Board’s chief executive officer and additional secretary to the government, Nuzhat Yasmin.

Special guests included additional secretary of the ministry Fatema Rahim Veena, superintendent of police of Tourist Police Chattogram Region Uttam Prasad Pathak, deputy secretary Saiful Islam Mondol, additional district magistrate Shahidul Alam, president of the Cox’s Bazar Press Club Mahbubur Rahman, and deputy director of the Tourism Board Md Borhan Uddin, among others.

Leaders of various tourism-related organisations, members of the Tourist Police, and the volunteers were also present at the event.

Speaking at the programme, Nuzhat Yasmin said that some unwanted incidents had occurred on the beach in the past, and steps had been taken to prevent any recurrence this year.

“Alongside the Tourist Police, 50 volunteers will be stationed at three points of the beach to ensure overall safety and make tourists’ visits enjoyable,” she said.

She also assured that common issues faced by tourists — including harassment by local transport drivers, snatchers, and dishonest traders — would be addressed gradually through coordinated efforts.
