Rows of jhau or casuarina trees and the blue waters of the sea have created a picturesque natural setting at Kakra Beach along Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive.
The casuarina groves become particularly lush and vibrant during the monsoon, drawing more tourists to the area.
Tourists from different parts of the country are flocking to Kakra Beach to spend time under the shade of the casuarina trees, enjoy the waves, and walk along the vast sandy shore.
Some admire the natural surroundings, while others capture the scenery on their cameras.
Samir, a tourist visiting the area, said the combination of hills on one side and the sea on the other, with the casuarina groves in between, has added to Marine Drive’s appeal.
“The gentle breeze in the afternoon and the sound of the waves create a peaceful atmosphere here,” he said.
Tourists said the casuarina grove and the beach’s natural beauty are among Kakra Beach’s main attractions.
They, however, stressed the need for stronger measures to protect the jhau trees, maintain cleanliness and conserve the environment to preserve the area’s natural beauty.
Locals said places blessed with natural beauty, such as Kakra Beach along Marine Drive, could further enrich Cox’s Bazar’s tourism sector if they are properly conserved and managed.
