Two advisers of the interim government—Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik, Advisor to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief—visited the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya to assess the overall situation on the ground.

On Monday afternoon, the two advisers climbed the observation tower at Camp-18, where they closely observed the camp’s security conditions and humanitarian needs, followed by a meeting with relevant officials.

Speaking to journalists afterward, Adviser Faruk E Azam emphasized that Bangladesh alone cannot bear the full responsibility of the Rohingya crisis and called for stronger and more active involvement from the international community.

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury added that the government is considering new plans to enhance security, including the rapid repair of perimeter fencing around the camps.
