Resembling a peacock, the turkey often fans its feathers in a display of beauty, wandering peacefully with its companions. Known as a “turkey chicken” in Bangladesh, this bird, though not widely popular here, enjoys considerable fame in Western countries.

A seller in Baharchhara Market, Cox’s Bazar, mentioned that turkeys reach marketable size within just six months, with each bird weighing up to six kilograms. The meat sells for around Tk450 per kilogram or more. Here, the price for two turkeys has been set at Tk3,500.

Though originally a foreign species, turkeys are now available in various markets across Cox’s Bazar.
