As part of its humanitarian commitment, Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) has stood beside cold-stricken, poor, and underprivileged people living in the border areas. On Saturday (January 10), winter clothing was distributed to 300 vulnerable individuals at the Kharangkhali Government Primary School premises, within the area of responsibility of Kharangkhali BOP under the Ukhiya Battalion. The programme was held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Lieutenant Colonel Md Zahirul Islam, G, Commanding Officer of Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB), was present as the chief guest at the winter clothing distribution event. Assistant Director Md Masud Rana and other concerned BGB officers were also in attendance.

Alongside its core responsibility of safeguarding the borders, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) regularly undertakes humanitarian and social initiatives. Such efforts have further strengthened public trust in BGB among border communities. Local residents, in turn, continue to cooperate with the force in various ways—playing a vital role in enhancing border security and promoting social harmony.

According to BGB sources, Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) will continue its humanitarian assistance and public welfare activities in the future.

It is worth noting that Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB), under the Ramu Sector of the Cox’s Bazar Region, remains on round-the-clock duty along Bangladesh’s southernmost border.

Alongside ensuring border security, the battalion is committed to further strengthening its position as a “symbol of trust” among the people living in the border areas.
