Embracing the slogan “Speak the Ocean, Connect the World,” a new initiative has begun for young surfers in Sonar Para village in Cox’s Bazar.

Hasi Mukh Youth and Social Development Foundation organised the inaugural session of the course on Friday (April 10, 2026), in association with Dhaka Peace Foundation, at the Surfing Tigers & Lifesaving Club premises.

The course, titled “Wave-Fluent,” is a six-month programme comprising 50 sessions. It goes beyond conventional language and skills training, offering a platform for participants to connect with the ocean while developing the ability to engage with the world.

The opening session featured an engaging discussion led by Md Jahedul Islam, a lecturer at the Department of Law at American International University-Bangladesh and a youth trainer.

On the first day, participants attended an interactive session facilitated by development practitioners Mahabub Kawsar, Mohammad Rasel, and Shiful Islam Manik, marked by active engagement.

A total of 21 young surfers joined the programme at its launch, reflecting notable enthusiasm and aspiration. Their participation signals a hopeful future for a confident, skilled, and globally connected generation of youth.
