Persistent monsoon rains have continued across Cox’s Bazar at the onset of the rainy season, bringing moderate to heavy downpours to different parts of the district. While the rain has caused some disruption to daily life, it has also brought relief from the recent heat and refreshed the natural landscape.
The Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office recorded 111.1 millimetres of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 3:00 pm on Tuesday.
Confirming the information, assistant meteorologist Abdul Hannan said that rainfall activity had increased in the coastal district under the influence of the active monsoon. He added that thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds were likely to occur in different parts of the district over the coming days.
He also said that no warning signal had been issued for the seaports or coastal areas at present.
Meanwhile, continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Cox’s Bazar town. Tourist spots have also been affected by the wet weather, although many visitors continue to gather along the beach to enjoy the unique beauty of the rain-soaked coastline.
The Meteorological Department said it is closely monitoring the situation and will issue further advisories if necessary.
