Friendship Sporting Club, one of the most passionate football clubs in Ukhiya upazila, organized a heartfelt felicitation ceremony to honor distinguished sports personalities. The event was held at the club’s temporary office in the presence of its members and local sports enthusiasts.
The program occurred at the club’s office in Sonarpara Bazar on Tuesday, May 20. Senior club member Arifur Rahman presided over the event, with Mr. Mohammad Hossain, the newly appointed Cox’s Bazar District Sports Association’s ad-hoc committee member, attending as the chief guest.
Notable guests included social workers Ridwanul Haque Zisan, Ziaul Haque, Mahbub Alam, Jasim Uddin Babul, Mohammad Noor, and veteran athletes Abdur Razzak Mamun and Faruk Hossain.
Three individuals were formally recognized for their outstanding contributions to sports: Mohammad Hossain, a member of the ad hoc committee of the Cox’s Bazar District Sports Association; Riaz Uddin, a three-time champion in the Judo competitions at the University of Dhaka; and Monir Hasan, a senior member of Friendship Sporting Club and a member of the championship-winning team of the National University Inter-Foootball Tournament 2025.
During the event, senior members Arifur Rahman and Mobashwer Hossain Reza highlighted the club’s current challenges and potential, seeking support from the guests to further sports development in the region.
In his address, the chief guest pledged active support: “I am committed to ensuring visible support for Friendship Sporting Club from the Cox’s Bazar District Sports Association.” Other guests also extended their best wishes and assured their cooperation in the club’s journey ahead.
