According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s Special Weather Bulletin No. 4, the deep depression has crossed the West Bengal-Bangladesh coast between Sagar Island and Khepupara. It is currently located over Satkhira and surrounding areas. The system has moved inland and turned into a “land deep depression,” moving north/northeastward and is expected to gradually weaken.

Under these conditions, there is a likelihood of gusty or stormy winds over the northern Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh’s coastal areas, and sea ports. Therefore, the sea ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to display Local Warning Signal No. 3.

Due to the combined effect of the new moon and the deep depression, coastal districts including Chattogram, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Bhola, Hatiya, Sandwip, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barishal, Pirojpur, Jhalokati, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira, and their nearby islands and chars are expected to be inundated by wind-driven storm surges of 1 to 3 feet above normal tidal levels.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been instructed to stay in safe shelters until further notice.

The Meteorological Department has urged everyone to remain cautious and has instructed local administrations in affected areas to prepare for rescue and relief operations.

These details were confirmed by Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist of Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office.
