Under the theme “Together We Build a Corruption-Free Bangladesh,” the final round and prize-giving ceremony of the 2025 anti-corruption debate competition was successfully held across Ramu, Ukhiya, and Maheshkhali upazilas in Cox’s Bazar district.
In Ukhiya, the event was hosted at Kutupalong High School, where the debate topic was “Corruption is the Main Obstacle to National Development.” The competition, organized by the Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee, was graced by Md. Gulshan Anwar, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Integrated District Office, as the chief guest. Professor Fazlul Karim presided over the session.
Other notable attendees included ACC Officer Md. Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Academic Supervisor Badarul Alam, and Head Teacher of Kutupalong High School M. A. Mannan. The host institution, Kutupalong High School, was crowned champion. Winners were awarded crests and certificates.
On the same day in Ramu, the final round and award ceremony took place at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium.
The session was presided over by the Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Master Mohammad Alam, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rashedul Islam attended as chief guest. ACC Assistant Director Anik Barua Babu, attending as special guest, stated, “Corruption is a major barrier to a nation’s progress. It fosters inequality and must be eradicated through united efforts.”
Eight educational institutions participated in the Ramu competition. In the final round, Monsur Ali Sikder High School defeated Mashumia Islami Sunnia Alim Madrasa.
Mobarak Hossain, a student of Mashumia Madrasa, was named Best Speaker. Winners received commemorative crests and environmentally friendly tree saplings.
In Moheshkhali, the debate competition featured Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Hedayet Ullah as chief guest and ACC Assistant Director Abdullah Al Masum as special guest.
The event was chaired by Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, President of the Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee. Teachers, students, guardians, and local media representatives attended in large numbers.
Organizers expressed hope that the active participation of students and their strong stance against corruption will play a vital role in raising awareness and building a more accountable society.
