A low-pressure system has developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, leading to significant atmospheric pressure variations over the sea.
As a result, gusty or squally winds are likely to affect the maritime region.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s Storm Warning Centre issued a bulletin on Wednesday, June 25, warning that the low-pressure may trigger rough weather conditions over the northern Bay, the coastal regions of Bangladesh, and its major seaports.
In response to the development, authorities have instructed Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 3.
Fishermen operating in the northern Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast, exercise caution, and avoid venturing into the deep sea until further notice.
The Meteorological Department is closely monitoring the situation and will issue updated directives if necessary.
This information has been confirmed by Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office.
