Along the scenic Marine Drive of Cox’s Bazar, where towering green hills meet the roaring waves of the Bay of Bengal, lies a magical place called Himchari. This unique destination offers a rare trio in one frame — majestic hills, cascading waterfalls, and the endless sea.
Once locally known as “Himporir Pahar” or the hill of the icy fairies, folklore suggests that fairies from the sea would once rest atop the high ridges of this hill. Today, it’s simply called Himchari, and it’s located just 12 kilometers south of Cox’s Bazar town, en route to Teknaf.
The Himchari waterfall, gently spilling down the hill, offers a refreshing dip for visitors, while the 280-foot hilltop rewards trekkers with a panoramic view of both land and ocean — a perfect place to witness the horizon blending sea and sky.
With the crashing waves on one side and lush green slopes on the other, Himchari is an irresistible stop for tourists in search of both serenity and adventure.
