With the slogan “Let’s Adorn Bangladesh with Green,” environmental organisation Prokriti O Jibon Club has launched a month-long tree plantation campaign in Cox’s Bazar.
The campaign was formally inaugurated on Friday at Ghonarpara Government Primary School in Bharuakhali, under Sadar Upazila, by A.N.M. Helal Uddin, President of Cox’s Bazar Nagarik Forum.
Other notable attendees included Professor Anwarul Haque, General Secretary of Cox’s Bazar Nagarik Forum; former Bharuakhali UP Chairman Aminul Haque; NTV Staff Reporter Ikram Chowdhury Tipu; BanglaVision Staff Reporter Morshedur Rahman Khokon; Moin Uddin Hasan Shahed, Cox’s Bazar Correspondent for Dainik Ajker Patrika; Zahirul Haque, Assistant Professor of Bangla at Cox’s Bazar City College; and Abshar Uddin, a teacher at the school. Channel i Staff Reporter Sarwar Azam Manik moderated the event.
Speakers at the event emphasized that tree planting is one of the most effective ways to mitigate the impacts of climate change. They urged citizens to cultivate the habit of planting trees to preserve the environment and build a livable Bangladesh for future generations.
Under this month-long initiative, the Prokriti O Jibon Club in Cox’s Bazar will plant trees and distribute saplings free of cost in various educational institutions, parks, open fields, and populated areas across the district.
