The Cox’s Bazar district administration launched an immediate operation on June 27, from afternoon until late night, to address the polluted water flow into the Kolatoli beach area near Divine Restaurant.

The operation was carried out under the directive of Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Salahuddin, with additional deputy commissioners leading the effort. Among those present were Additional District Magistrate Shahidul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Imran Hossain Sajib, and an executive magistrate.

During the drive, an illegal drainage line channeling wastewater from Poushi Restaurant was demolished, and the drain was completely sealed off. A mobile court fined Poushi Restaurant for installing an illegal drain.

Moreover, unauthorized drains under the branch road toward Divine Eco Resort were blocked using geobags, while an overflow drain under the road bridge leading to the beach was also sealed. The mouth of a natural stream, previously blocked between Divine Eco Resort and Pacific Beach Lounge, was reopened to restore normal water flow.

The recently formed canal at Kolatoli Beach was leveled using a payloader, with active support from Cox’s Bazar Municipality and the Water Development Board during the operation.

Officials noted that this action by the district administration would play a vital role in ensuring tourist safety and protecting the beach environment. The administration has announced that similar operations will continue in the future in the public interest.
