To mark World Environment Day 2025, free tree saplings were distributed among students and farmers in Cox’s Bazar Sadar and Moheshkhali upazilas.

On Sunday, an event was held at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Parishad complex, where students from various educational institutions received fruit, forest, and medicinal plant saplings. Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), handed over the saplings to the students as the chief guest.

The event was also attended by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sharmin Sultana, officials from the Forest Department and the upazila administration, teachers, and local dignitaries. In the final part of the program, coconut saplings were distributed among local farmers.

Meanwhile, in Moheshkhali, the NGO Community Development Centre (CODEC) organized a discussion and sapling distribution program under the theme “No to Plastic Pollution, Time to Act is Now.”

The event, held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, was attended by Moheshkhali UNO Md. Hedayet Ullah as the chief guest, with CODEC representative Kohinur Akter presiding over the session. The program also drew participation from local administrative officials and representatives from various professions.

Following the discussion, tree saplings were distributed to the participants at no cost.
