The government has finalised the process to establish the Mahoshkhali Integrated Development Authority as part of its plan to transform Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar into a planned industrial and commercial hub. A gazette notification in this regard has recently been published by the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

According to the gazette, the new authority will work in a coordinated manner to establish planned industries in Maheshkhali, develop the power and energy sectors, modernise transportation systems, improve land management, and build related infrastructure.

Additionally, a governing body will be formed to oversee and guide the authority’s activities, with the Prime Minister serving as the chief advisor and chairperson of the board.
