Boat and naval services on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route have resumed after a four-day suspension. Starting today, Monday, service boats are once again transporting passengers and essential food supplies to Saint Martin Island.
Rashid Ahmed, President of the Service Boat Owners Association operating on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route, confirmed the resumption. He mentioned that at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, two service boats departed from the Kayukkhali ghat in Teknaf, carrying emergency food supplies and 77 residents of Saint Martin Island.
According to the boat operators, all maritime traffic had been suspended from Thursday to Sunday due to the rough seas caused by a low-pressure system and the new moon.
On Sunday morning, the meteorological office lifted the weather warning; however, rough seas delayed the resumption of services. Today, however, the boats successfully set sail, marking the reopening of the crucial route for both passengers and cargo.
