The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised all four maritime ports in the country to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3 as a low-pressure system has formed over the Bay of Bengal.
In a special weather bulletin issued on Tuesday (July 29) afternoon, the Met Office stated that a low-pressure area has developed over the north Bay and adjoining regions, with the potential to intensify further. Due to the system, a steep pressure gradient persists over the north Bay, triggering gusty or squally winds over the coastal areas, maritime ports, and adjacent sea regions.
As a result, the ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to display local cautionary signal No. 3.
Simultaneously, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the north Bay have been asked to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
