International and local delegates visited Rohingya camps in Ukhiya on Tuesday, listening to the struggles and hardships faced by the displaced community.
Arriving in two groups, the visitors toured several facilities inside the camps. Alongside representatives from 40 countries, leaders of different political parties from Bangladesh also joined the visit. They spoke directly with Rohingya refugees, many of whom shared stories of loss and despair.
The foreign delegates visited the World Food Programme’s (WFP) e-voucher outlet at Camp 4 before proceeding to the Balukhali Friendship Hospital to observe the ongoing healthcare services. They also spent time at a women’s handicrafts training center, engaging in extended conversations with Rohingya women about their lives and aspirations.
The visit marked the conclusion of a three-day international conference titled “Stakeholders’ Dialogue: Takeaway to the High-Level Conference on the Rohingya Situation.” The event, which began on Sunday in Cox’s Bazar, aimed to strengthen international cooperation for a sustainable solution to the protracted Rohingya crisis.
