“Let’s Change the Country, Let’s Change the World” — with this inspiring slogan, a swimming competition and prize distribution ceremony were held in celebration of Youth Festival 2025 in Cox’s Bazar. The event was organized by the District Sports Office in collaboration with the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Administration under the Annual Sports Program 2025–26 of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The competition took place on Tuesday afternoon at the pond of Kharulia Churtia Senior Madrasa, where students from various educational institutions under the Sadar Upazila participated.

The event was presided over by Acting Principal of Churtia Senior Madrasa Muhammad Zahirul Haque, with District Sports Officer Md. Alauddin is attending as the special guest. In his remarks, the District Sports Officer highlighted the importance of swimming, calling it an excellent form of exercise that improves cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and flexibility. “Swimming is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels,” he added.

Teachers, students, and guardians from different institutions attended the event. A total of 60 students from Churtia Senior Madrasa, Muktarkul Government Primary School, Hashemia Kamil Madrasa, Cox’s Bazar Model High School, and Cox’s Bazar International School, among others, participated in the competition. Participants were divided into two categories — the middle group for students of grades six to eight (below five feet three inches in height) and the senior group for students of grades nine to ten (above five feet three inches in height).

Prizes were later distributed among the champions and runners-up. In the senior group, the winners of the 100-meter freestyle event were Tarek Rahman, Sourav Dey, and Jillu Rahman. In the 100-meter backstroke, Sakib Al Hasan, Hasan Md. Adnan, and Foysal Islam took the top spots. The 100-meter breaststroke was won by Muhammad Hanif, followed by Tarek Rahman and Sourav Dey, while the 100-meter butterfly category saw Tarek Rahman, Sourav Dey, and Jillu Rahman as winners.

The 50-meter freestyle winners in the middle group were Fahim, Md. Abir, and Nasir Islam Jihad. Riduan Siddiq, Tarek, and Md. Ibrahim won the 50-meter backstroke event. In the 50-meter breaststroke, Riduan Siddiq secured first place, followed by Zayed Bin Shah and Md. In the 50-meter butterfly, the winners were Abir, Naimul Islam, Zayed Bin Shah, and Muhammad Hosain.

The program concluded with a closing speech from the chair, marking the end of a vibrant event celebrating youth, sportsmanship, and community spirit in Cox’s Bazar.
