A stakeholder meeting aimed at enhancing social advocacy against gender-based violence (GBV) was held in Cox’s Bazar, organised by Embolden Bangladesh and ActionAid’s GOLD Project.

The meeting took place on Saturday (22 September) at the conference hall of Cox’s Bazar Municipality, bringing together representatives from various sectors.

Youth leaders, human rights activists, journalists, advocates, women entrepreneurs, and student representatives shared their experiences and concerns regarding different forms of violence—particularly the rising risks women and girls face both online and offline.

Participants noted that gaps in coordination among preventive mechanisms and service-providing institutions continue to hinder survivors’ access to justice.

The stakeholders proposed practical recommendations such as awareness campaigns, school and college-based initiatives, strengthened online safety, forming community action groups, empowering youth voices, and promoting constructive media engagement.

Representatives of Embolden Bangladesh said that the insights from participants would play a key role in shaping effective future action plans and interventions to prevent GBV.

They added that building a violence-free, safe, and equitable society requires collective effort, and they are committed to expanding such initiatives in the coming years.
