Cox’s Bazar has witnessed a massive influx of tourists centring on Christmas Day, December 25, and New Year’s Eve, as the country’s longest sandy sea beach turns into a hub of festive activity.

With the onset of winter, extended holidays, and favourable weather conditions, hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the country are arriving in the tourist city every day.

The surge in tourists has brought back the familiar vibrancy and celebratory atmosphere across Cox’s Bazar.

Hotels, motels, resorts, and guesthouses are experiencing a sharp rise in occupancy, with most standard hotels already nearly complete. Industry insiders say that without booking, finding preferred accommodation has become increasingly complex.

Tourist Police officials said additional forces have been deployed across the beach areas, hotel zones, and other key locations. Alongside regular patrols, round-the-clock monitoring is being maintained to ensure safe travel for visitors. Tourists have also been advised to follow safety guidelines while entering the sea.

Meanwhile, the administration has taken extraordinary measures to ensure overall security. Cox’s Bazar Range Additional DIG Apel Mahmud said police remain on the highest level of alert to ensure the safety of all tourists visiting the district.

“Additional police personnel have been deployed at beaches, hotel zones, tourist spots, and other important areas. If any tourist faces harassment, we request them to inform the police immediately,” he said.
