The peak tourist season is underway, and thousands of visitors are flocking to Cox’s Bazar beach every day. The winter sea remains notably calm, with its blue waters captivating tourists. Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the shoreline, indicating that the sea is safe for bathing.

Due to the cooler weather, fewer visitors are entering the water in the early morning. However, as soon as the sun rises and temperatures warm up, tourists begin enjoying the salty waves.

Bathing activities are mainly concentrated at three points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha. For safety reasons, Sea Safe Lifeguard authorities have urged tourists to follow several guidelines strictly.

Lifeguards said specific bathing zones have been clearly marked at the three designated points where lifeguard services are available. These areas are demarcated with red-and-yellow or red flags. Tourists have been warned that entering the sea outside the marked zones could be dangerous.

Mohammad Osman Gani, supervisor and senior lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea is currently calm due to the winter season, which is why red-and-yellow flags have been raised. “To avoid any risk, tourists are advised to enter the sea only within the designated bathing areas at these three points where lifeguard services are active,” he said.

According to the tide information, low tide will occur at 1:03 pm on Thursday (December 25), while high tide is expected around 7:00 pm.

Authorities have cautioned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguard instructions and entering the sea could lead to serious accidents at any time.
