It is the weekly holiday, Friday, and the sun has yet to appear over Cox’s Bazar this morning. Meanwhile, the peak tourist season is in full swing, drawing thousands of visitors to the beach every day. During winter, the sea at Cox’s Bazar remains remarkably calm, with its blue waters continuing to captivate tourists.
Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the shoreline, indicating that sea conditions are safe for bathing. Due to the chilly weather, fewer people are entering the water in the early hours. However, once the sun comes out, tourists gradually begin to enjoy swimming in the salty waves.
Bathing activities are mainly concentrated at three points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha. For safety reasons, the Sea Safe Lifeguard authority has urged visitors to follow several guidelines strictly.
Lifeguards said that designated bathing zones have been clearly marked at these three points, where lifeguard services are actively available. The boundaries are marked with red-and-yellow flags or red flags. Tourists have been warned that entering the sea outside these marked zones could be dangerous.
Mohammad Osman Gani, supervisor and senior lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea is currently calm due to the winter season, which is why red-and-yellow flags have been raised. He advised tourists to enter the sea only within the designated bathing areas at the three points where lifeguard services are in place to avoid any risk.
According to tidal information, low tide is expected at 1:53 pm on Friday (December 26), while high tide begins at 7:51 pm.
Authorities have cautioned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguard instructions while entering the sea could lead to serious accidents at any time.
