BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Salahuddin Ahmed visited the home of Cox’s Bazar–based journalist Ansar Hossain, who has been devastated by the loss of his wife and young son within a span of just two months.

Ansar Hossain is the staff reporter and bureau chief of Daily Amar Desh in Cox’s Bazar and the district correspondent of the English daily The Times of Bangladesh

During the visit, Salahuddin Ahmed spoke with Ansar Hossain and his elder son, Abdullah Noor Hossain, and expressed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Salahuddin Ahmed arrived at Cox’s Bazar Airport at around 1:00 pm on Friday (January 2) and proceeded directly to the North Nuniachhara Jame Mosque to perform the Jummah prayers.

After the prayers, he visited the graves of Ansar Hossain’s late wife, Roksana Noor, and their son, Abdullah Ritaz Hossain, who passed away while suffering from illness triggered by the trauma of his mother’s death.

He offered silent prayers and sought forgiveness for the departed souls.

Following the grave visit, Salahuddin Ahmed went to Ansar Hossain’s residence, where he consoled the grieving family members and conveyed heartfelt condolences to relatives, including the elder son, Abdullah Noor Hossain Rudra.

Expressing his sorrow, he said that the void created by losing a wife and a child within such a short period is beyond words, and prayed that Allah grant the family patience and strength during this difficult time.

It may be recalled that Roksana Noor passed away on October 14. Just two months and thirteen days later, on December 27, their 13-year-old son Abdullah Ritaz Hossain died while undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. The successive deaths have plunged the family into profound grief.

Journalists, along with various political and social organizations, continue to express condolences and solidarity with Ansar Hossain and his family over this heartbreaking tragedy.
