The Goongachtola area of Cox’s Bazar city comes alive in the afternoons, bathed in the gentle glow of winter sunshine.

The shade of the tall goontrees, the steady flow of traffic, and the surrounding shops together turn this spot into a calm yet vibrant chapter of city life.

During this time of day, pedestrians, shopkeepers, and students alike pause here to enjoy a moment of comfort and relief.

Pedestrian Rafique said the afternoon sun is just right—not too harsh. “Standing under the shade of the goon trees and soaking in the sunlight lightens the mind and eases the day’s fatigue,” he added.

A college student shared that visiting Goongachtola with friends on winter afternoons feels especially pleasant. “The soft sunlight and cool breeze together create a sense of calm that’s hard to describe,” he said.

Rickshaw puller Hafizul Islam noted that even when there are few passengers, the area offers a perfect place to rest. “The sunlight is gentle, and the shade of the trees blends everything into a soothing scene,” he explained.

Locals believe that Goongachtola in winter afternoons is more than just a passageway—it is an integral part of the city’s daily rhythm.

The sweet winter sun combined with the constant flow of people paints a picture of everyday life that is simple, relaxed, and full of quiet vitality.
