With the arrival of winter, roasted corn, or popcorn, has become one of the favourite treats for tourists visiting Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive Road.
As cool winter breezes sweep across the coastal stretch, both local and foreign tourists are stopping by roadside stalls to enjoy hot, freshly roasted corn.
Along Marine Drive, packets of roasted corn are being sold for Tk 20 to Tk 30, offering an affordable yet delicious snack.
The simple pleasure of warm corn on a chilly afternoon is adding an extra layer of joy to the travel experience.
Corn vendor Sagar Hossain said he sells roasted corn on Marine Drive from morning until evening every day. “Tourists like to buy roasted corn as a travel snack. Sales increase significantly on weekends and public holidays when tourist numbers are high,” he said. On busy days, his earnings range between Tk 1,000 and Tk 2,000.
Such small-scale initiatives by local vendors enhance tourists’ wintertime enjoyment and serve as an important source of livelihood for many during the peak tourism season.
