Under the open sky and amid the rhythmic crash of waves, cricket has become a daily source of joy for the teenagers of Sonar Para village.

As soon as school ends in the afternoon, they put away their books and notebooks and rush to the Sonar Para sea beach, where the sandy shore turns into a lively cricket field.

A visit to the beach shows local teenage boys dividing themselves into two teams and immersing themselves in the game. Some use old bats, while others use plastic balls, but the excitement remains constant.

Every boundary and six is met with cheers, while an out brings shared laughter and friendly banter, filling the beach with youthful energy.

Rakib Hossain, a sixth-grade student, said that playing here after school helps him forget the day’s fatigue.
“Coming here to play after school takes away all the tiredness. It gives us a break from the pressure of studies and lets us enjoy ourselves,” he said.

Fourth-grade student Sakib Ali said playing regularly with friends keeps both his body and mind healthy.
“I dream of becoming a talented cricketer one day,” he added with a smile.

Local residents said such recreational activities on the beach are not only a source of joy but also play an important role in children’s physical and mental development.

They believe that balancing studies with sports will help teenagers grow into healthy, responsible citizens in the future.

Blending with the sound of waves and the laughter of children, these cricket-filled afternoons have turned the Sonar Para sea beach into a daily celebration of youthful happiness.
