A large number of tourists gathered at Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Friday as the weekend began, although the winter shoreline itself remains calm and tranquil.

The blue waters and clear horizon are drawing tourists, but the cool morning temperature has kept many from entering the sea early in the day.

As the sun climbs higher, tourists are increasingly taking to the salty water for a swim.

Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the beach, indicating that the sea is currently considered safe for bathing.

Most visitors are entering the water at three designated points — Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha.

However, Sea Safe lifeguard authorities have urged tourists to strictly follow safety instructions.

Lifeguards have marked specific bathing zones within those three points where rescue services are available.

Red-and-yellow or red flags demarcate these zones. Bathing outside the marked areas can be dangerous, lifeguards warned.

Sea Safe supervisor and senior lifeguard Mohammad Osman Gani told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea remains relatively calm during the winter season, which is why red-and-yellow safety flags are being used.

He recommended that visitors enter the water only within the designated, guarded zones to mitigate potential risks.

According to the tide schedule for Friday, January 30, low tide will occur at 2:01pm, while high tide is expected at 8:01pm.

Officials cautioned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguard instructions could lead to serious accidents at any time.
