A rally organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami began at 10:00am on Monday (February 2) at Bir Muktijoddha Maidan in the Baharchhara roundabout area of Cox’s Bazar sadar.
The venue and surrounding areas were fully prepared ahead of the programme.
From early morning, leaders and activists started arriving in groups from different parts of the district, including Teknaf, Ukhiya, Ramu, Maheshkhali, Kutubdia, Chakaria, and Cox’s Bazar sadar.
The field and the surrounding areas soon became vibrant with party banners, festoons, and slogans.
Earlier, on Sunday (February 1) at around 11:30am, Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general Muhammad Shahjahan visited the rally venue ahead of the arrival of the party’s ameer, Shafiqur Rahman, in Cox’s Bazar.
During the visit, he said Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman would address five public meetings across the Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram regions on Monday.
He expressed optimism that people from all corners of the district would gather in large numbers to ensure the programmes’ success.
He also sought cooperation from the district administration, law enforcement agencies, the traffic police, and all concerned stakeholders, particularly the residents of Cox’s Bazar town, to ensure the rally was held peacefully and smoothly.
An appeal was also made for public understanding in case of any temporary inconvenience caused by the programme.
Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Shafiqur Rahman is attending the rally as the chief guest.
Among the special guests are assistant secretary-general AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, and local leaders of the 11-party alliance.
