During the holy month of Ramadan, the sea beach at Cox’s Bazar takes on a different atmosphere as tourists gather in the late afternoon to watch the captivating sunset, spreading a reddish glow across the waters.
As the last light of the day fades over the Bay, local residents and a small number of tourists often gather along the beach to witness the scenic moment.
With fewer tourists visiting during Ramadan, the usually bustling beach remains comparatively calm, creating a peaceful and tranquil environment along the shoreline. Many people arrive in the afternoon and sit by the sea while preparing for iftar.
Before breaking their fast, they watch the sun slowly dip into the horizon, casting warm colours across the waves and sky.
Hasan, a tourist to the beach, said the atmosphere during Ramadan was noticeably different from that at other times of the year.
“Compared with the rest of the year, the environment here during Ramadan feels much calmer. With fewer tourists around, a quiet and peaceful mood settles over the beach, making the sunset even more beautiful and enjoyable,” he said.
According to visitors, the gentle sound of waves combined with the colourful glow of the setting sun creates a unique and memorable experience. Many families and groups of friends sit together on the beach to share iftar while enjoying the scenic view.
Locals say that although the number of tourists is lower during Ramadan, watching the sunset by the sea in the late afternoon has become a moment of comfort and mental relaxation for many.
In the quiet surroundings of the beach, the sunset offers a brief escape from the busyness of daily life, drawing people into a peaceful world shaped by nature’s beauty.
