Preparations have begun in full swing in Cox’s Bazar for the celebration of Bangla New Year 1433. Ahead of Pohela Boishakh, various subcommittees under the New Year Celebration Council have already undertaken multiple preparatory activities to ensure a colourful and successful event.
A preparation meeting of the cultural sub-committee was held on Saturday evening at the Cox’s Bazar Municipality auditorium. The meeting was chaired by committee convener Monir Mobarak and conducted by member secretary Torpona De.
It was informed in the meeting that this year’s celebrations will begin at 6:00 a.m. with an inaugural ceremony, followed by a grand Mangal Shobhajatra, a “Jemon Khushi Temon Sajao” (dress as you like) competition, and day-long cultural programs. Cultural organizations from across the district are expected to participate in the events.
Participating groups include Zhinukmala Khelaghar Asar, Simuniya Khelaghar Asar, Satyen Sen Shilpigoshthi, Doya Sangeet Academy, Udichi, Srijon Sangeet Bhuvan, Yoga Academy, Daryanagar Cultural Centre, Agantuk Cultural Sangha, Abchar Hub, Chhai Lok, Sagorika Khelaghar Asar, Ola and Rust Band, among others.
Speakers at the meeting included New Year Celebration Council convener Khorshed Alam, district Khelaghar president Subimal Pal Panna, and several others.
They said that with collective efforts, a beautiful, safe, and festive celebration will be ensured to mark Pohela Boishakh, one of the most cherished cultural festivals of the Bengali people.
