The “National Science and Technology Week and Science Fair 2026” has begun in Cox’s Bazar at the district level.

The district administration, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, inaugurated the 47th edition of the event on Monday morning. Baitush Sharaf Jabbaria Academy School and College hosted the opening ceremony and a science seminar.

Deputy Director of Local Government Md Shamim Al Imran attended the event as the chief guest. He emphasised that without innovation and creative thinking, future generations would fall behind and fail to keep pace with the world. He urged students to acquire knowledge and skills in science and engage actively in scientific practices.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Tasnim Jahan, District Education Officer Md Golam Mostafa, educationist Sirajul Islam, Principal Md Sayeed Karim, and Cox’s Bazar Government Boys’ High School Headmaster Rammohan Sen addressed the seminar.

Alongside the seminar, the fair features a science quiz competition and a Science Olympiad for secondary-level students.

More than a hundred young participants from different educational institutions have joined the fair, showcasing their innovative projects and ideas.
