Thousands of tourists gathered at the Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Friday afternoon to witness the breathtaking sunset over the Bay of Bengal, as the sky turned vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold.

Following several days of rough weather during the final week of Boishakh, the clear skies on Friday (May 8) made the sunset appear more vivid and captivating, restoring the beach’s usual lively atmosphere.

As the sun slowly sank into the waters of the Bay of Bengal at the end of the day, the roaring waves and gentle sea breeze created a serene, picturesque setting.

Large crowds assembled along the beach to enjoy the moment, with many visitors capturing the scenery on their phones and cameras, while others quietly admired the natural spectacle.

Tourist Abir said that the sunset in Cox’s Bazar offers a unique feeling every time.

“It is not just a beautiful scene, but a silent experience of nature that leaves a lasting impression on the mind,” he said.

Another tourist, Hasan, said the sunset was something to be felt rather than merely seen.

“It is an experience that repeatedly draws travelers back to Cox’s Bazar,” he added.

Md Yunus, a shopkeeper at Laboni Point, said businesses had suffered in recent days due to a decline in tourist arrivals caused by unfavourable weather.

“Sales improved significantly this afternoon as more tourists visited the beach,” he said.

Another local trader, Rahman, said tourist numbers were expected to increase further in the coming days if the weather remained favourable.

“People are crowding the beach every afternoon to enjoy the sunset, which is also helping our businesses recover,” he said.

Meanwhile, members of the Tourist Police and lifeguard teams remained on alert across the beach to ensure tourists’ safety and security, maintaining constant surveillance along the shoreline.
