Preparations for the sacrificial animal trade ahead of Eid-ul-Azha have intensified at cattle farms across Cox’s Bazar, with a giant bull named ‘Kala Bahadur’ emerging as a major attraction among visitors and buyers.
The 22-maund bull has been priced at Tk 800,000.
The massive animal has been raised at ‘Mayer Doa Dairy Farm’ located in Samiti Para of Ward No 1 under Cox’s Bazar municipality.
People from different areas are now visiting the farm to catch a glimpse of the bull.
Farm owner Nurul Islam said all cattle on the farm were raised using entirely natural methods, without harmful medicines or artificial fattening injections.
He said Kala Bahadur is fed about 15 kilograms of green grass and 17 kilograms of bran, along with other nutritious food, every day.
“We have raised the bull with great care and affection,” he said.
According to farm authorities, Kala Bahadur measures 9 feet 1 inch in length and 5 feet 2 inches in height.
Its enormous size has made it a centre of attraction at the farm. Nurul Islam said he had started the farm in 2017 with only one cow. At present, the farm houses a total of 77 cattle, he added.
