The temporary sacrificial livestock market under Cox’s Bazar municipality is set to begin on Sunday (24 May) ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.

The only cattle market under the Cox’s Bazar municipality will be established near the Kusturaghat–Khurushkul New Bridge area.

The market management committee has implemented several special arrangements to ensure convenience for both buyers and sellers. The livestock market will remain open 24 hours a day and will operate under CCTV surveillance to ensure safety and security.

Facilities have also been arranged for cattle traders arriving from distant areas, including accommodation, safe drinking water, designated prayer spaces, and parking spaces for trucks and pickups.

Security personnel will remain deployed round the clock to ensure safety for both buyers and sellers. Authorities have also taken initiatives to ensure smooth loading and unloading of cattle, adequate lighting, and a clean environment.

Efforts are underway to keep the market free of middlemen and ensure orderly transactions through strict monitoring.

Emergency medical and first-aid services will also be available at the market, according to the authorities.

Adnan Saud, chairman of the temporary market management committee, said all preparations have been completed to ensure maximum convenience for traders and buyers.

“Our goal is to ensure a safe, clean, and broker-free environment where people can buy and sell sacrificial animals smoothly,” he said.
