Cox’s Bazar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday amid continuing hot and humid weather conditions.
According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, the humidity level stood at 65 per cent during the day, making the weather feel more uncomfortable despite the relatively moderate temperature.
Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan said cloud cover is expected to increase gradually from Wednesday, while rainfall activity may become more widespread across the country from Wednesday night or June 4.
“There is a possibility of increased rainfall across Bangladesh over the next few days. However, the amount of rainfall in Cox’s Bazar and nearby coastal areas may remain comparatively lower. Even so, cloud cover is expected to increase, and a noticeable change in weather conditions may occur,” he said.
Meteorological officials said the monsoon is gradually becoming active over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, creating favourable conditions for rain and thunderstorms in different parts of the country.
The increase in cloud cover may also bring a slight reduction in daytime temperatures, offering some relief from the prevailing heat.
Meanwhile, residents and tourists in Cox’s Bazar have been experiencing discomfort due to several days of hot weather. Many are now hoping for rainfall to bring relief from the heat.
