Rough sea conditions continued to prevail off the Cox’s Bazar coast on Monday as large waves and adverse weather affected the shoreline, prompting the Bangladesh Meteorological Department to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted at the seaport.

The southwest monsoon has already entered Bangladesh through the Cox’s Bazar coast, officially marking the beginning of the rainy season in the country. Under the influence of the monsoon, rainfall has increased across the district and is expected to continue over the coming days.

Assistant Meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office said the southwest monsoon had become active over the coastal region, contributing to rough seas and increased rainfall.

He said that Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 remained in force at Cox’s Bazar seaport due to the prevailing weather conditions and advised people engaged in maritime activities to remain cautious.

The weather office also forecast continued rainfall in Cox’s Bazar and adjoining coastal areas over the coming days as monsoon activity strengthens.
