Heavy rain brought welcome relief to Cox’s Bazar on Sunday after two days of scorching heat, lowering temperatures and transforming the coastal town into a refreshing monsoon landscape.
The rain began in the early hours of Sunday and continued throughout the morning.
Although it later eased into light showers, the overcast sky and cool breeze provided much-needed respite for both residents and tourists.
On Saturday, the district experienced sweltering temperatures, with intense sunshine and high humidity making outdoor activities uncomfortable for much of the day.
Sunday’s rainfall, however, restored the typical monsoon atmosphere and brought a noticeable decline in temperature.
The rain also gave Cox’s Bazar’s beach a different charm. Despite intermittent showers, visitors continued to gather at the Kalatali, Sugandha and Laboni points.
Some walked along the shoreline with umbrellas, enjoying the sound of the waves and the cool weather, while others took photographs of the rain-soaked beach.
The monsoon also enhanced the beauty of the Cox’s Bazar–Teknaf Marine Drive. With lush green hills on one side and the choppy sea on the other, the scenic coastal road attracted a steady stream of visitors from the morning.
Many stopped their vehicles to admire the landscape and capture the season’s picturesque views.
Local tourism entrepreneur Abdur Rahman said Cox’s Bazar takes on a unique beauty during the monsoon.
“Although rain can cause some inconvenience, many visitors come specifically to experience the monsoon. The combination of rain, green hills and the sea makes Cox’s Bazar even more attractive at this time of year,” he said.
